Our Story

It Started With a Simple Question

In 1978, John Anderson started what would become Anderson Heating, Air & Insulation in Calhoun, Georgia. Like most HVAC technicians at the time, he focused on installing and repairing heating and cooling equipment.

But something didn't add up. Customers kept calling with the same problem: "My new unit is installed, but my power bill is still sky high."

    A shop in Calhoun

    John opens John Anderson Service Company, installing and repairing heating and cooling equipment.

  2. The question

    New units, same high bills

    Customers with brand-new systems still had uncomfortable rooms and high power bills.

  3. The answer

    Fix the whole house

    John studies how insulation, air sealing and the home envelope affect HVAC, and becomes BPI certified.

  4. The shop

    Ductwork built to fit

    A custom sheet metal shop at 519 Pine Street lets the team fabricate ductwork for each home.

  5. Today

    Same family. New name.

    Now Anderson Heating, Air & Insulation: HVAC, insulation, weatherization, duct cleaning, indoor air quality and custom fabrication under one family-owned roof.

Founder

John Anderson

John grew up behind the counter of his family’s neighborhood grocery store in Calhoun, where fixing the store’s coolers with his dad, JD, sparked a lifelong curiosity about how things actually work. He opened his own company in 1978. When customers kept calling back with brand-new systems and the same uncomfortable rooms, he started fixing the whole house — earning BPI certification and building the custom sheet metal shop at 519 Pine Street. Nearly five decades later, John is still the heart of the company and the standard every job is measured against, usually with Gypsy close by.

Vice President

Shyloh

Shyloh became like family to John over the years and today runs the day-to-day as Vice President: the team, operations, marketing, and the systems behind the business. Shyloh led the rebrand from John Anderson Service Company to Anderson Heating, Air & Insulation and built this website, so John’s standard reaches every customer, every time. Outside work, Shyloh serves on the Calhoun Young Professionals Committee, sings with the Community Chorus, performs with Calhoun Little Theater, and square dances with the Cherokee Promenaders.
