A few simple steps protect your home and your equipment until a technician arrives.

    Turn the system off at the thermostat. If it smells electrical, switch off the breaker to the unit and leave it off.

  2. AC iced over?

    Turn cooling off but leave the fan running so the ice melts. It also gives us a cleaner diagnosis.

  3. No cooling in the heat?

    Close blinds on the sunny side, run ceiling fans and move to the lowest, coolest floor.

  4. No heat in the cold?

    Layer up, close off unused rooms and keep space heaters well away from anything that can burn.

  5. Water around the unit?

    Soak it up and set a pan under the leak so it doesn’t reach drywall or flooring.

  6. Check the simple things

    Thermostat mode and batteries, a clogged filter, or a breaker that tripped once. Don’t reset a breaker that keeps tripping.
