From a Calhoun Grocery Counter to a Whole-Home Legacy
Long before there was an Anderson HVAC truck on the road, the Anderson family ran a neighborhood grocery store right here in Calhoun — back in the days when folks still saved up their Green Stamps. JD and Amanda "Bobby" Anderson built it, and their kids — John and his siblings, David and Susan — grew up behind that counter, bagging groceries, greeting neighbors, and learning the kind of honest, look-you-in-the-eye service small-town Calhoun was built on.
John's dad didn't just teach him to work — he groomed him to love fixing things. When the store's coolers went down, JD showed John how to bring them back to life, and something clicked. John loved understanding how things actually worked, and how to make them work right. That spark carried him from the store's coolers into refrigeration, and from refrigeration into heating and air.

Long before he ever got into weatherization, John built a custom sheet-metal shop on Pine Street so his team could fabricate ductwork the right way, in-house. Shyloh — who became like family to John over the years and is still his right hand — stepped in to run the day-to-day: the team, the operations, the systems, and the rebrand to Anderson Heating, Air & Insulation. As Vice President, Shyloh makes sure John's standard reaches every customer, every time. Together they're the founding generation and the next one — the legacy that built Anderson, and the energy carrying it forward better than it's ever been.
That community-first spirit runs all the way through. Shyloh is active in the Calhoun Young Professionals Committee, sings with the Community Chorus, and performs with Calhoun Little Theater — and the whole crew treats every job like a relationship with a neighbor, not a transaction with a stranger.
The Shop Pickleball Court
In the big lot behind the shop, we painted our own pickleball court — red edges and white kitchen lines straight from a can of Dollar General spray paint. Half the crew plays nearly every day, drivers honk when they pass, and once a year we shut down for a half-day employee tournament with hamburgers and a trophy. It's where the Anderson camaraderie lives.

The heart of our logo is John holding up a finger with his loyal dog Gypsy in his lap. It started as a happy accident the day our branding came to life — and it stuck, because it's exactly who we are: down-to-earth, genuine, and proud to be your neighbors. Around here, kids spot the bright purple-and-orange truck and call it "the dog truck." We wouldn't have it any other way.
